Hawaiʻi Poet Laureate 2026-2029
Nominations are open for the 2026-2029 Hawaiʻi State Poet Laureate. This program recognizes and honors a Hawaiʻi poet of exceptional talent and accomplishment and awards an annual grant of $25,000 to support literary programming throughout our islands. Self-nominations are accepted. The Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System, and the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts invite the public to submit nominations.

2026 Hawaiʻi Regional Scholastic Student Art Awards Competition

Hawaiʻi students grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) are eligible to enter. Entries are submitted online by December 12, 2025.

This year’s corporate sponsor, Lexus Hawaiʻi, is providing additional awards and scholarship prizes.

City & County of Honolulu 2027 Grants in Aid
The City and County of Honolulu, through its Department of Community Services, is soliciting applications from qualified nonprofit agencies for the Grants in Aid Program (GIA). Funding is anticipated to be available to support qualified public services to economically and/or socially disadvantaged populations or provide services for public benefit in the areas of arts, culture, economic development, or the environment.

Federal funding for small businesses
In partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii and the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation, BizBoost is a statewide initiative designed to help Hawaiʻi’s small businesses and nonprofits access and maximize federal funding opportunities. Get guidance and support for federal grants and loan programs at no cost to you.

Qualifying small businesses include very small businesses and entrepreneurs with fewer than 10 full-time employees; nonprofit organizations with fewer than 10 full-time employees; and small businesses impacted by the August 2023 Maui wildfires.

While some programs may be temporarily on hold, now is the time to get your paperwork ready. Visit the

OUR MISSION
To promote, perpetuate, preserve and encourage culture and the arts, history and the humanities as central to the quality of life of the people of Hawai`i. HSFCA funding is provided by the State of Hawai`i and the National Endowment for the Arts. The HSFCA is administratively attached to the Department of Accounting and General Services.

HOURS:
The musuem is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed State and Federal Holdays. Always free admission. For pre-recorded information call 586-0900.
