STUDENT WORKS
EXTENDED! THROUGH AUGUST 29, 2025
Paintings inspired by Doug Young’s “Waikui” glass sculpture at Capitol Modern.

After learning about the Hawaiian water cycle, ʻAlani Strode Montessori preschool students explored the connection between wai (fresh water) and kai (ocean) and expressed their reflections through painting. Each piece is a unique interpretation of “The Pool,” blending blue, green, and white to visualize the meeting of water sources that support life.

On view in a ground floor case next to the MORI shop entrance. Supported by public funding from the
Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
