I. CALL TO ORDER -- [0:00:01]: Chair Robert Finley called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

Quorum was established with 13 members present. Note -- This 17-member Board requires nine (9) members to establish a quorum and to take official Board action. Board members must be in-person or have video access.

Board Members Present: Jillian Anderson, Lisa Cabanero, Stephanie Easly, Louis Erteschik, Melissa Filek, Robert Finley, Kathryn Henski, Daniel Jacob, Ken Jacob, Greg Misakian, Mark Howard, Chad Snater; Sarah Worth, and Michael Brown (6:05 p.m.),

Board Members Absent: Robert Boyack, Shotaro Dabbs, and Jeff Merz.

Election of Officers -- Secretary -- [0:34:30]: [0:34:38] -- Henski NOMINATED and Cabanero SECONDED Filek for Secretary. Hearing no further nominations, the board conducted a roll call vote. Filek was elected Secretary; 14-0 (Filek: Anderson, Brown, Cabanero, Easly, Erteschik, Filek, Finley, Henski, D. Jacob, K. Jacob, Misakian, Howard, Snater, and Worth; Abstain: None) -- [0:35:05].

Early trash pickup -- [0:36:34]: Resident Giampolo raised concerns about the early trash pickup time in Waikīkī.

Court system issue -- [0:40:58]: Resident Deutzman expressed his opinion on the work of Judge Melanie Mito regarding a case of a repeated offender.

Finely highlighted the following: City takes action to address crime along the Wai'anae Coast; 30 brand-new security cameras installed in Chinatown; Mayor Blangiardi hosts a healing vigil; City demolishes hoarder house; and Honolulu named most desirable City to live.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF WAIKĪKĪ NEIGHBORHOOD CANDIDATES FOR HAWAIʻI SENATE AND HAWAIʻI HOUSE -- [1:58:54]

State Candidacy -- [1:59:12]: Representative Tam provided background information about himself and the work they have done to benefit the community. He is seeking re-election.

State Candidacy -- [2:02:30]: Member Anderson explained why she is running for Hawaii State House of Representatives and provided background information about herself.

State Candidacy -- [2:05:30]: Senator Moriwaki provided background information about herself, her accomplishments as Senator, and explained why she seeks re-election.

X. BOARD BUSINESS -- [2:16:07]

[2:16:09] -- Chair Finely took the agenda out of order and moved up item 10c.

Waikiki Beach Improvement Update -- [2:16:10]: Dolan Eversole provided a presentation on the proposed beach improvement for Waikīkī. The presentation depicts the current status of the project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS); the timeline of the final EIS and possible construction year; Concept renders of Halekulani Beach Stabilization plan; other potential beach maintenance projects; Kawehewehe Beach restoration concept; and a potential repair of a public walkway from Halekulani to Kawehewehe Beach.

XI. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -- [2:51:15]

Approval of Tuesday. August 13, 2024 -- [2:51:15]: Member Misakian had corrections to the Tuesday, August 13, 2024 regular meeting minutes. Postponed to the next meeting.

Sub District 3 -- [2:53:58]: Member Henski thanks Resident Deutzman informing the board regarding criminal activity in Waikīkī.

Chair's Report: Postponed to the next meeting.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Waikīkī Community Center, 310 Paoakalani Avenue.
