SHANGRI LA
8X8 ARTIST SHOWCASE
Shangri La and Capitol Modern present a closing celebration for the Shangri La 8x8: Source exhibition, with performances from current and past 8x8 artists.
Featured performers include Ryan Kamakēhau Fernandez, Ohtoro, Izik, Noʻu Revilla, Maryanne Ito, Brandy Nālani McDougall, and Big Mox.
Friday August 2, 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. during Capitol Modern’s First Friday event. Free admission, all ages welcome. Museum galleries will be open.

Capitol Modern will be open on Friday, August 16, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., free admission. Enjoy free street parking and reduced traffic in downtown Honolulu during this state holiday!

STRATEGIC PLAN LISTENING SESSIONS
The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) will hold five strategic planning sessions throughout the state in August. These meetings aim to gather diverse insights to help shape SFCA initiatives and priorities. Additionally, attendees and participants will have an opportunity to engage with artist Solomon Enos, the artist developing and designing the State Capitol’s waterless pool. Enos will describe the concept behind his design which includes public participation.

• Hilo: Thursday, Aug 8, 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., University of Hawai’i Hilo
• Maui: Tuesday, Aug 13, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Maui Arts and Cultural Center
• Kauaʻi: Thursday, Aug 22, 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall
• Oʻahu: Thursday, Aug 29, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., State Foundation on Culture and the Arts
Those interested in attending are asked to email HawaiiSFCA@hawaii.gov. Others who are unable to attend are also encouraged to email their feedback at the same address.
SFCA’s mission is to promote, perpetuate, and preserve culture and the arts in Hawai‘i, and its vision is a thriving and vibrant Hawai‘i enriched by culture and the arts. The SFCA operates Capitol Modern (the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum) as a part of the SFCA Art in Public Places Program.

Free admission, Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Closed on Sundays and some state holidays.
