HONOLULU - The City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services (DTS) is reminding public transit riders that masks are still required to be worn at all times while onboard TheBus and TheHandi-Van beyond March 25 2022, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

At the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the security directive for mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs until April 18, 2022. This federal extension will continue beyond Governor David Ige’s end to the State’s Emergency Proclamation for COVID-19, which will drop all indoor mask mandates this Friday.

TheBus and TheHandi-Van are required to follow all city, state and federal guidelines and mandates, which include the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) and TSAʻs rules and regulations on masks required on all transportation networks including public transportation and at all transportation hubs.
