Mayor Caldwell takes action on bills
Honolulu -- Mayor Kirk Caldwell took action today on the following bills by signing Bill 34 (2019), CD2 and Bill 64 (2019), CD1 into law
Bill 34 (2019), CD2 - Relating to the Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency
"I want to thank Councilmember Pine for her leadership on this issue," said Mayor Caldwell, "Bill 34 lays the groundwork for making Honolulu resilient to the challenges of the future."
Bill 64 (2019), CD1 - Relating to unlawful disposal of refuse or bulky waste.
"O‘ahu is famous around the globe for its beauty, but that reputation has lately been marred by people treating our public spaces as dumping grounds," said Mayor Caldwell. "Bill 64 gives our Department of Environmental Services the teeth to enforce illegal dumping, and greatly expands the type of evidence that can be used to bring illegal dumpers to justice. I want to thank Councilmember Fukunaga for introducing this bill to make Chinatown a more beautiful place to live, work and play."
