Partial park closures scheduled for Ala Wai Community Park and Ala Wai Neighborhood Park

Permitted activities, classes, and programs will be allowed during the 10-week closure

Honolulu -- A partial, 24-hour closure of facilities within Ala Wai Community Park and Ala Wai Neighborhood Park is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 17 and last until Wednesday, December 26.

This 10-week closure is scheduled to address a variety of park maintenance projects including, but not limited to: planting of new grass, fertilizing, aerating, tree trimming, graffiti removal, and comfort station cleaning.

Several park amenities do not require maintenance at this time and are excluded from the 24-hour closures. Those include: the baseball fields, soccer field, parking lots, recreation building, community garden, dog park, and canoe hale buildings.

Since these will be partial closures, permitted activities, department classes, and programs will continue as scheduled. Regular park closure hours will apply to the areas excluded from the 24-hour closure, which is posted as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily for the neighborhood park and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily for the community park.

We appreciate the public's understanding while these park facilities are closed and thank them for their patience while these repairs are made.
