Road closures and detours in place in Waikīkī for President Trump's visit

Waikīkī -- The public is advised to expect heavy traffic and delays during President Donald J. Trump's visit to O‘ahu this Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4, especially in the Waikīkī area.

Road and sidewalk closures on the west end of Waikīkī will severely impact pedestrian and vehicle traffic from Friday to Saturday morning.

Additional freeway and road closures are planned for Friday afternoon.East-bound traffic between Pearl Harbor and Waikīkī is scheduled to be affected from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.,and again from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.West-bound traffic between Waikīkī and Pearl Harbor will be affected from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic detours and sidewalk closures in Waikīkī may also be possible on Thursday, November 2 as authorities prepare for the president's visit and move barricades into place.

Public transportation (TheBus and TheHandi-Van) services will also be delayed due to the president's movements (see map below).Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for your planned transit trip. During the president's visit the following street closures are anticipated in Waikīkī, affecting motorized vehicle access and TheBus and TheHandi-Van services; some pedestrian access will be prohibited in areas designated off-limits by the U.S. Secret Service (all information is subject to change):

1 Kūhiō Avenue between Kalaimoku and Kai‘olu Streets

2 Kalaimoku Street between Kalākaua and Kūhiō Avenues

3 Two mauka lanes of Kalākaua Avenue between Kalaimoku and Saratoga

For security reasons, specific routes and times will not be released.
