At 6 p.m. each evening, a wall of books rotates to reveal a lobby bar that's anything but a lobby bar:

The drinks are legendary - each one named for a literary work and composed with as much thought (the 100% organic, largely local dinner and dessert menu is similarly masterful).

Local, original musicians provide nightly sounds and Reverse Happy Hour promises specials on featured beers, wines and bottles.

Fridays

Jason Laeha

7:30 to 11:30 pm

Jason Laeha, who got his musical start playing the ukulele at age 10, always knew he wanted to craft his own musical style, making him the perfect MODERN musician. Laeha moves with impressive ease between classic 70s, trendy 80s and 90s pop before exploding into a Bruno Mars cover song. A crowd favorite -- Jason's version of Eric Clapton's Cocaine, complete with an over-the-head guitar riff.

Sundays

Jeremy Cheng

6:30 to 10:30 pm

Sundays at The Study have become the place where musicians go to listen to music, largely thanks to Jeremy Cheng and the talent that seems to tag along with him wherever he goes. From the guys playing alongside him to the area musicians that congregate in the crowd, Sundays at the Study often become a Who's Who Open Mic Night, only you have to be extremely talented to mix it up with Jeremy and his gang.

Mondays

Melaniie

6:30pm to 9:30pm

Melaniie has been singing before she could walk. Her burning passion for music eventually pushed her to follow her dreams, which eventually landed her a rendezvous with Stevie Wonder. She started signing as a featured artist in the latter part of 2012.

Tuesdays

Alex Oasay + Jeremy Cheng

7:30 to 10:30 pm

Hawaii's diverse crowds have long influenced Alex Oasay's music. "I try to play music that everyone will enjoy, no matter where they're visiting from," says Alex, who decided to make music his living three years ago. Before turning full-time musician, Alex was busy "tuning up cars." Now, he prefers to tinker with MODERN music -- a mix of early rock, modern pop and Hawaiian influence.

Wednesdays

Simple Souls

the-study-the-modern-hotel-waikiki-honolulu-hawaii-simple-souls-3.jpg

7:30 to 11:30 pm

Simple Souls brings the perfect blend of strumming and drumming to The Study on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. These two soulful female musicians call their style "aggressive acoustic sounding music," and the songs are typically stripped down to their barest elements for a truly organic (and modern) experience. It's not like any other slack key you'll find on the Waikiki strip, Simple Souls musician Jenn Wright says.
