Room Rates Now Available During Mele Mei Festival and 37th Annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards Event
Pali Ka‘aiihue, co-creator of the Mele Mei Festival and President of the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA), announced the continuation of their partnership with the Ala Moana Hotel, aka the "Official Hotel of the 37th Annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards." The Mele Mei events take place all throughout the month of May 2014 (www.melemei.com/events) with the culmination leading up to the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards show on May 24th, to be held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Waikīkī.
Says Ka'aihue, "From day one, the management and staff of the Ala Moana Hotel have been right by our side, continuing to help us in raising awareness of Hawai`i's artists and music to the world." Marty Milan, director of sales and marketing adds, "Once again, we are happy to be a proud sponsor of Mele Mei and hope that the special room rates we've extended will attract return guests, new visitors, and of course, local residents to the festival."
The Ala Moana Hotel has quite a history with the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, as it was the original home in 1978. However, as the popularity of the show grew, it also outgrew the space at the Ala Moana Hotel and eventually made its way into its current home of the 35,000 square foot Kalākaua Ballroom at the Hawai‘i Convention Center, directly across the street from the hotel.
The special Mele Mei/ Nā Hōkū Hanohano hotel rates at Ala Moana Hotel are available from May 21 -- 27, 2014 as follows:
- • Kona Tower - $125. per night (maximum 2 guests per room)
- • Waikīkī Tower - $145. Per night (maximum 4 guests per room)
Rates are for single/double occupancy, plus taxes, and rooms are subject to availability. Guests must present their I.D. badge, ticket or receipt for any of the events to the front desk prior to
check out in order to qualify for the exclusive room rates. Festival participants must call 808.955.4811 to receive the special Nā Hōkū Hanohano rates or simply go to the link at www.melemei.com for online reservations.
Translated in Hawaiian, Mele Mei means "May, Hawaiian Music Month." A series of workshops, events and performances are held throughout various venues in Hawaii, primarily throughout Honolulu and Waikīkī on O`ahu, and on Maui. Now in its fourth year, the entire month of May 2014 will be dedicated to featuring an impressive line-up of artists and industry icons, as well as a new generation of musicians, representing each genre of Hawai`i's music from traditional Hawaiian to contemporary, `ukulele to the steel guitar, reggae to rock-n-roll, as well as new alternative indie sounds.
Sponsored by the Hawai`i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA), and the Hawai`i Tourism Authority (HTA), the Mele Mei 2014 program will include the Lei of Stars Dinner Concert on May 1st, the Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon on May 3rd, the Hawaii Youth Symphony Luncheon on May 18th, ‘Ukulele Picnic on May 25th, plus a variety of hula events at the Waikīkī Hula Mound. Of course, all the events lead up to the excitement of the 37th Annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards Show on May 24th, honoring the best of the best in Hawai`i‘s music industry, and.
