Halekulani & Nā Hōkū Hanohano May Lunch Time Concert Series

MAY LUNCH TIME CONCERT SERIES
Travelers worldwide are familiar with the legendary Halekulani for its beautiful grounds, service and hospitality. Now, it will also be known for the variety of mele (music) performances held at House Without A Key during the annual Mele Mei Festival. During the month of Mei (May) the Halekulani has reserved Sundays from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. for visitors and locals to enjoy the musical talents of several amazing Nā Hōkū Hanohano artists which include Waipuna (May 4th,) Kūpaoa (May 11th,) Nathan Aweau (May 18th), and Ledward Kaapana & Mike Kaawa (May 25th).
Said Pali Ka'aihue, co-creator of Mele Mei and President of the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts (HARA), which produces the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, "Once again, we are happy to partner with the Halekulani as they have been a supporter of Mele Mei since the beginning." Added Lea Uehara, Secretary of HARA; "The lunch time series is going to be a great way for guests to be up-close and personal with some of these award-winning artists in an intimate setting."

In 2011, officers of HARA developed the Mele Mei concept to promote and perpetuate Hawai`i‘s music, composers, and culture on a global level. Mele Mei's grand finale event is the annual Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, designed to honor and acknowledge outstanding artists, compositions and performers in the Hawai`i music industry. The month-long celebration highlights the signature sounds, diverse talent and genre of Hawai`i‘s music. While traditional music is an important part of Hawaiian culture, Mele Mei's
